How is your plastic free July going? Did you know that by 2050 it is estimated that there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish!?!?! It’s so important that we incorporate more eco-friendly practices into our daily lives, and what better way than to look at our beauty regimes? There are so many brilliant ethical, vegan, cruelty-free and natural beauty products out there just waiting to be found. There’s no easier way to uncover some of these eco-treasures than with a subscription box!
I am all about beauty products that won’t cost the world, so I was super excited when I received The Natural Beauty Box in the post this month. Even more exciting is that this month’s theme is Zero Waste Beauty.
Take a look at the products that were included in this month’s box…
Sknfed Organic Chocolate Bar Face Soap (Cocoa + Vanilla) 100g
The first product I tried from this month’s beauty box is this wonderful face soap from Sknfed. The concept is so fun and quirky that it brings an element of joy to a sometimes monotonous beauty regime.
When I first tried this product I only lathered one square between my hands, but afterwards I found that tearing one bar (4 squares) off and using that for your lather is so much better. I’ve been using the same bar for a few days now, twice a day and I’ve got a good usage out of it.
At first my eyes became sore and itchy, and I noticed that my skin was really dry. Honestly, I’m going to put this down to the weather on the day (or lack of hydration) and any remnants of eye makeup I had left on, because I’ve used it twice daily since and not had a problem.
If you’re looking for a fun addition to your skincare regime that doesn’t cost the world, then this chocolate bar face soap, packed with antioxidants is a great choice. It’s also great value for money as this product will easily last you a month or more.

Friendly Soap Peppermint and Poppy Seeds 95g
Without a doubt, this is one of the loveliest smelling soaps I have ever used. Peppermint creates a great warming sensation on your skin, improving circulation and the poppy seeds provide a great natural exfoliant.
I cannot overstate what a wonderful smell this product radiates either!
This is the first of Friendly Soaps’ range that I’ve tried, but after this finding this little gem, I’m really excited to explore their products further. That’s the great thing about subscription boxes like The Natural Beauty Box, they do all of the hard work for you and you end up discovering beautiful products like this one.

Nini Organics Natura Miracle Mask 80ml
Now I love a face mask – don’t we all? Part of my Sunday beauty regime is relaxing with a chamomile tea and a rejuvenating face mask to detoxify my skin and prepare it for the week to come.
What’s great about this product is it’s flexibility. Nini Organics provide suggestions for what to mix the powder with (which smells strongly of turmeric), like almond milk or plain water. This time I was fairly boring and just mixed it with water.
Once you’ve made it, the formula has a wonderfully smooth and whipped texture that glides on your face. You don’t need much to make one application either, which means this product is great value for money! Oddly, I felt a bit like a character from Harry Potter mixing my potion together whilst making it – maybe due to the dark colouration of the formula. It definitely adds a bit of fun to what can be a sometimes monotonous beauty regime.
Now I tend to take the claims of a lot of beauty products with a pinch of salt until I’ve tried them. But, after I used this mask, I noticed that my skin looked more radiant and that the inflammation on some of my larger blemishes had been reduced. You can really feel this one working too. Nini Organics recommend 10-15 mins usage (5 mins to begin with for those with sensitive skin) – I used it straight away for 15 mins with no problems. ‘Natura Miracle Mask’ truly is an accurate name for this product.

Zao Essence of Nature Pearly Eyeshadow (Shade 105)
If you’re looking for a highly pigmented eyeshadow, then this is not the one for you. But, if like me, you like a subtle eyeshadow to quickly swipe across your eyelids to have light coverage during these hot summer months, then I highly recommend this for you. The colour included in this month’s subscription box is also very versatile and will look great on a diverse range of skin tones. ‘Golden Sands’ (105) is a beautiful nude shade, with hints of shimmery glitter.
What I love the most about this brand is that their products are 100% natural and organic. Their eyeshadow packaging is made of bamboo and it is stored in this cute cotton pouch. Even better, these bamboo pots are REFILLABLE. This means that you can play around with colours, refilling your current shade with whatever takes your fancy next. Zao Makeup have done a great job with reducing single-use, plastic packaging in the beauty industry with their unique bamboo packaging and that can only be a good thing.

Beauty Kubes Shampoo and Body Wash 12g (3 kubes)
Pesky plastic bottles clutter our bathrooms and once they leave our houses, they often swamp our oceans. Beauty Kubes have a wonderful answer to reducing our plastic consumption. These shampoo and body wash kubes are so easy to use and smell amazing – lemon is such an invigorating smell!
At first I wasn’t sure what the consistency of the paste should be to get the full effects of the product, but it really is as simple as crumbling a cube in the palm of your hand, adding a little water and then lathering it into your wet hair. For me, I have fairly thick hair, so one kube was only enough to wash my hair and I didn’t use it as body wash – I had the peppermint and poppy seed soap for that!
These beauty kubes are such an easy, inexpensive way to reduce your plastic consumption. They left my hair feel squeaky clean and very light. I usually opt for a conditioner too, but with these there really was no need. As someone who experiences fairly oily hair, I had great results with these ones (described as being for normal hair), so would love to see even I get even better results – is that even possible?!?! – with their kubes formulated for oily hair.

Big Green Tree Trading Intensive Hand Balm 30ml
After one usage my hands feel silky smooth. This intensive hand balm is a lovely addition to this months Natural Beauty Box, especially during this savage heatwave that we’re experiencing. Say goodbye to any dry hands you may be experiencing with this all-natural solution.
What I love the most about Big Green Tree is that they use all-natural products in all of their high-quality products. This intensive hand balm added a touch of luxury to this month’s box – we all need to indulge sometimes, right?
Although there may seem like minimal product – I am one of those people who just slathers lotions on sometimes – you really do not need much to experience the full effects of this intensive hand balm. My only criticism? It does leave your hands feeling fairly greasy after use, so I tended to let my hands absorb the product for 5 minutes or so before proceeding with my day. But thanks to it’s inclusion of quality moisturising ingredients like shea butter, avocado oil and jojoba, I think I can cope with the slight greasiness I experience.

My Flawless Beauty ‘The Blending Brush’
Without a doubt this is one of the softest makeup brushes I’ve ever used. Application is simple and I used it to try out the Zao Makeup UK eyeshadow also featured in this months box. I got great coverage using this brush and it was also very quick and easy to clean.
Synthetic fibres are used for this brush, making it both vegan and cruelty-free. For me, after using this brush I do not see the need for animal products to be used in makeup brushes (not that I used them before, as far as I’m aware), and I will not be going back!
This brush is also made to use with concealers, although I haven’t tried it with concealer as I tend to use translucent powder rather than a specific concealer product.

The Natural Beauty Box July #ZeroWaste July Edition
Overall, there is no doubt in my mind that this subscription box is worth £24.95 each month. When you consider how much time that it would take you to discover all of these products in your own time, AND the fact that the value of this months box is £58, then really it’s a no brainer. Even better is that all of the products (usually around 5) that are included are always cruelty-free, vegan and all-natural. Of course, this month all of the packaging is also re-usable and recycle, with none of that ghastly plastic.
A lot of these products will make great additions to both my general beauty regime and my travel essentials.
It’s sooo hard for me to pick a favourite product from this month’s box, but for me, it has to be a toss up between Friendly Soaps’ Peppermint and Poppy Seed Soap and the Nini Organics Natura Miracle Mask.
Without a doubt I would highly recommend all of these products as a fantastic addition to anybody’s eco-beauty regime, but of course, it all depends on your personal preferences and your skincare requirements.
One thing’s for sure though, I wouldn’t have been introduced to any of these brands without the fabulous Natural Beauty Box.
